I’m indulging in a NYRB Classics frenzy. So far Desző Kosztolányi’s Skylark is a good example of why EVERYONE should be reading early 20th Century European novels. Skylark is made of pitch perfect prose with wonderfully subtle irony and a most careful hint of tragedy.
